The sun does not shine here. Has Helios forsaken us?

The world is bathed in feeble light and vibrant shadows

The world grows quiet. Does it hold its breath?

The angels are silent behind the clouds.

They dare not approach this place.

Do they wish they could?

If they could, would they hold us?

If they could, would they comfort us?

If they could, would they take our hands and

guide us away from the darkness?

We wrote Speak Say Share for all our loved ones.

For Kasper, Ruth and David’s son. And for our beloved Dad, David ‘T’ Tapueluelu Wolfgramm. We miss you both every day.

For our wonderful Mum, Georgina Horinana Kapa Hagger, who always reminds us that whilst happiness comes from within, it is made ever more meaningful when shared.

Finally, we dedicate Speak, Say, Share to our readers, who we hope will enjoy our insightful, often chaotic, but genuinely creative work.

Our Journey

Our family began writing this book when we were separated from each other during the global pandemic. We struggled emotionally when travel restrictions, quarantines, and lockdowns meant we couldn’t hug or hold those we love and cherish.

We tried our best to stay positive, connecting online whenever we could. At that time, we realised we could create something meaningful together. We decided to write poetry, haiku, and stories, and to share our words, images, and artwork.

Speak, Say, Share was born as a space to freely express our aroha, strength, and resilience.

We thank our gorgeous and talented family of poets, writers, and artists, from the bright imagination of nine-year-old Mason, to the enduring wisdom of our ninety-year-old matriarch Georgina.

Crimson

Fearsome Envy crept up one day

And stole her precious egg away

The Crimson one .... the fragile one

Once before had it reared its head

At the blood-soaked foot

Of the doctor’s bed

The defenders fold their arms

And look to each other

With glittering eyes

Cerulean, Medallion and Cinnabar

Aroused, Redress is ascending

Forged in the fires

And born under a War sign.
